Fashion in Space

Welcome to the year of 2008.

Looking at the Diesel 2008 S/S show, i can’t help but notice how fast our world has changed. Global warming is more important than ever, or at least it gets the best/most publicity now.

The Diesel show was entitled “Liquid Space”, played with concepts of metamorphosis as strange hybrid forms of man, machine and sea creature appeared to float through space. Diesel has moved into a new realm of creativity, of technology, of blending the elements of life and what’s around us, by bringing 3D animation technology and live fashion show.

While at the end of the show, I (i believe most people too) keep asking myself, where will this lead us in the fashion world?

Oh, and what kind of blending that i should put into Purpledotz? Interesting…we’ll see.

Coming to a H&M near you this Nov…Just (Cavalli) H&M

PARIS – Roberto Cavalli is the new friend of Hennes & Mauritz.

The Swedish fast fashion retailer on Wednesday said Cavalli will design a one-off women’s and men’s collection to be sold in 200 H&M stores beginning Nov. 8.

H&M revealed the tie up as it said more stores and hot sales of designs by pop icon Madonna lifted second-quarter profit 31 percent to 5.134 billion Swedish kronor.

But the Swedish fast-fashion giant missed analysts’ consensus expectations and said same-store sales in May dropped 2 percent. Its stock lost more than 3 percent in early morning trading on the Stockholm Bourse.

H&M said sales for the three months through May improved 18 percent to 20.05 billion kronor, helped by the M by Madonna line that was launched in March.

Pop chanteuse Kylie Minogue also appeared in H&M advertising for swimwear during the period. H&M said it would open another 95 stores before year-end. At the end of the quarter, H&M had 1,420 stores.

rare piece of paper…

Finally, i got my first Moleskine notebook

Buying the notebook may not seem like a significant event, but somehow i have so many ideas rushing out from no where. I don’t know if Moleskine is magical with all the history in the name, or just plain coincident.

I was searching for a fashion technical reference and there was this little black notebook calling me. It was sitting nicely on the rack, the notebook i have been searching for a while.

I came to know about Moleskine from movies. In today advanced society, writing with pen and paper seem to be reserved for school children only. But i always enjoy the relationship of my beloved pen and paper. Seeing ideas and thoughts come to contact with life, it’s wonderful

——————–

Over the couple of seasons, i believe we have gone back in time, to search for a new fashion inspiration. 20’s, 30’s, 50’s, 60’s or 80’s, we have them all – again. Somehow, when i look at it, i feel like people want to be part of A history. They want to be remembered as a generation that played some part or role in shaping today and tomorrow. People that want to experience what the past generations were so proud of – roots and histories.

I say, let’s start to write again, pen & paper, or in some cases, Ink & Moleskine.

the morning after…

Well, there we have it, Kate Moss for Topshop designs out in the street and some in ebay.

When it comes to event this big, there’s no escape from the 2 extreme. Love & Hate.

People have been queuing up, rushing in, grabbing stuff, catching breath and every other element that give you that adrenaline boost to conquer something you perceived too important to be missed. BUY NOW!

Then came the morning after, where people start to realized and fully awake, they start to comment. – Overpriced, flop, unexcited, what? – You get the point. Try This

In fashion, we need excitement, we need something for us to talk about, to focus on, to think, to try, to touch, to feel and to dream about. The more you get into fashion, the more you will see that things kept repeating themselves.

It’s a repetition world – the Fashion World.  Then, people will start to realized…

…fashion is us. We are fashion. The same white shirt can be worn everyday, but somehow, when you look yourself in the mirror, you feel differently. It’s a mind game. It’s a projection of who we are.

Fashion is part of our life. A simple color or detail can make a whole world around us evolved.

Kate is out. In come New Look’s LILY.

Next stop, Mango – Penelope Style.
